CAMDEN, N.J. — Failure to submit a formal proof of loss does not bar a supplemental claim for Superstorm Sandy property damage because the insurer communicated with the plaintiffs following the supplemental claim, and there is no indication that it ever expressed the need for a more formal proof of loss, a New Jersey federal judge ruled.
