CAMDEN, N.J. — A New Jersey federal judge has ordered an insurer to produce unredacted emails between its claims adjusters and in-house counsel in a Superstorm Sandy case, ruling that they are not protected by attorney-client privilege because the lawyers were not providing legal advice.
On Dec. 30, Magistrate Judge Ann Marie Donio of the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey also sanctioned the insurer for refusing to comply with plaintiffs’ discovery requests, ordering the re-deposition of the insurer’s witnesses.
