MINEOLA, N.Y. — A New York state judge has directed the owner of a catering hall seeking coverage for Superstorm Sandy damages to answer certain interrogatories concerning employment records, tax returns, payroll and canceled reservations, which may be relevant to its claim.
However, in an Aug. 4 order, Judge Jerome C. Murphy of the Nassau County Supreme Court denied the insurer’s request to compel the president of the restaurant’s operator for a deposition, ruling that “the outstanding relevant inquiries are very limited, and do not warrant the requirement” that he appear for a deposition.
