NEWARK, N.J. — A settlement agreement releasing a homeowners’ insurer from claims arising out of damages caused by Superstorm Sandy encompasses “any and all” claims made by the insurers thereafter, a New Jersey federal judge has ruled in awarding Canopius US Insurance Co. summary judgment.

On June 29, Chief Judge Jerome B. Simandle of the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey found the settlement agreement broadly waives any and all claims under the policy, including the insureds’ subsequent claim for damage that occurred in January 2013.
