MINEOLA, N.Y. — A policyholder’s claim accusing an insurance broker of inducing her to buy coverage that was more expensive than comparable coverage and causing her to sustain losses in the wake of Superstorm Sandy is not time-barred, a New York judge has ruled.
On June 3, Judge Antonio I. Brandveen of the Nassau County (N.Y.) Supreme Court explained that the plaintiff’s cause of action accrued when she was injured by the broker’s allegedly deceptive act or practice, rather than when she procured the insurance.
