CAMDEN, N.J. — A federal judge in New Jersey ruled that his court has supplemental jurisdiction over a Superstorm Sandy case that included claims under three insurance policies that provided distinct types of coverage.
In a Feb. 11 decision, Judge Jerome B. Simandle of the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey said the case should remain in federal court because the non-flood state law claims asserted by the plaintiffs share a factual predicate nearly identical to those asserted against a flood insurer named in the action.
