NEWARK, N.J. — A New Jersey federal judge has awarded Selective Insurance Company of America summary judgment on claims asserted in a flood damages case, finding the insured failed to comply with the proof of loss requirements set forth in his Standard Flood Insurance Policy.
In a Dec. 29 order, Judge Esther Salas of the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey found the policyholder failed to provide a “signed and sworn” proof of loss and did not submit any estimates or reports documenting his claim for $20,000 in structural damage.
