NEW YORK — A federal judge in New York has dismissed a dispute over Superstorm Sandy flood coverage, determining that neither the plaintiffs nor their mortgage company paid policy premiums for nearly two years before their home was damaged by the storm.
In a Jan. 17 opinion, Judge Arthur D. Spatt of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York ruled that The Standard Fire Insurance Co. presented evidence sufficient to show that the insured received adequate notice of the policy cancellation and is, therefore, not entitled to coverage for the Sandy-related damage.
