NEWARK, N.J. — Citing apathy and indifference toward general orders and a request to inspect a Superstorm Sandy-damaged property, a New Jersey district court has revoked the pro hac vice status of a Texas law firm that filed 250 lawsuits on behalf of those seeking coverage for Sandy-related losses.
The sanctions, detailed in a Jan. 13 opinion in U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey, also include an order requiring plaintiffs to reimburse expenses incurred by defense counsel and referral of a New Jersey attorney who assisted in filing the cases to the state’s disciplinary committee.
