NEW YORK — A law firm representing plaintiffs in two Superstorm Sandy insurance lawsuits has been sanctioned $2,000 for what the court said was its repeated failure to comply with discovery orders and requests for documentation related to the claims.
U.S. Magistrate Judge Gary R. Brown ordered plaintiffs’ firm Gauthier, Houghtaling & Williams to pay the National Flood Insurance Program half the $2,000 sanction in a Nov. 7 order, stopping short of the NFIP’s request to dismiss the cases outright.
