NEWARK, N.J. — A federal judge has dismissed a Superstorm Sandy insurance lawsuit after considering documentation indicating that the defendant named in the complaint was not the company that issued the policy under which the plaintiff is seeking coverage.
In an Oct. 27 order, Judge Claire C. Cecchi of the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey granted defendant Hanover Insurance Co.’s motion to dismiss the case, citing evidence that another insurer, a related but legally distinct company, had issued the policy.
