Chubb Defendants Fail in Bid to Exit Superstorm Sandy Insurance Case

MINEOLA, N.Y. — A New York judge has refused to dismiss defendants from a Superstorm Sandy insurance suit that claimed they were incorrectly identified as entities that played any role in issuing or handling an insurance policy under which the plaintiff was refused coverage.
In a decision issued Sept. 30, Nassau County Supreme Court Justice Antonio I. Brandveen rejected an attempt by The Chubb Corp. and Chubb & Son Inc. to dismiss the claims against them based on what they said was an unsuccessful bid by the plaintiff to “pierce the corporate veil.”
