Urban Outfitters Sues Insurer Seeking Coverage for Superstorm Sandy Losses

NEWARK, N.J. — Retail clothing giant Urban Outfitters Inc. has filed a federal lawsuit in New Jersey, alleging that its commercial property insurer has refused to pay more than $2 million in losses sustained as a result of Superstorm Sandy.
In the Sept. 22 complaint filed in U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey, Urban Outfitters accuses Continental Casualty Co. of harassment and intimidation in its attempt to avoid paying for the losses even thought the insurer’s own investigation confirmed they are covered under the policy.
