Printer Sues Insurer Seeking $37 Million in Damages Caused by Superstorm Sandy

NEWARK, N.J. — A New Jersey printing company has sued its property insurer in federal court, seeking nearly $37 million in lost business and damage to its equipment that resulted from Superstorm Sandy.
In the Aug. 11 complaint filed in U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey, Pictorial Offset Corp. alleges that Zurich American Insurance Co. utilized inexperienced engineers and adjusters to conclude that the Sandy-related damage was caused not by electrical overstress of its equipment, but by flood, and therefore coverage was subject to a $1 million aggregate flood limit.
