MINEOLA, N.Y. — A New York judge has entered a default judgment against defendants named in a lawsuit over coverage of property damage caused by Superstorm Sandy.
In a May 12 decision, Nassau County Supreme Court Justice Jerome C. Murphy ruled that plaintiffs Sadia Ismat and Zaher Ahmed met all requirements for seeking a default and scheduled the matter for inquest to determine an amount of compensatory damages owed to the plaintiffs as a result of an insurer’s refusal to cover their Sandy-related homeowners’ claim.
