Order Sets New Guidelines for New York Superstorm Sandy Insurance Cases

NEW YORK — A group of magistrate judges assigned to a docket of more than 800 Superstorm Sandy insurance coverage actions pending in New York federal court issued its first case management order outlining new guidelines for how the cases will proceed.
The CMO was entered Feb. 21 in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York by the three-magistrate committee overseeing the Sandy docket, which was established last month to facilitate resolution of the cases, while avoiding duplication of efforts and unnecessary expense.
