FEMA Eyeing Dismissals in Superstorm Sandy Flood Cases, Advises Against Consolidation

NEW YORK — The Federal Emergency Management Agency has informed parties in several Superstorm Sandy insurance coverage actions that it intends to seek dismissal from every case where it says it has been improperly identified as a defendant.
In letters filed Feb. 18 in New Jersey and New York federal courts, FEMA said it is currently unaware of any case involving a dispute over policies issued as part of the National Flood Insurance Program’s Write Your Own program in which it has not been voluntarily dismissed or is in process of being dismissed.
