NEW YORK — A second federal judge in New York has ordered the dismissal of numerous Superstorm Sandy flood insurance claims that were improperly joined to the same lawsuit.
U.S. District Judge Sandra J. Feuerstein said in a Nov. 21 order that too many variables exist among the breach of contract claims brought by 26 plaintiffs to allow them to proceed in a single case against flood insurer, The Standard Fire Insurance Co.
“Indeed, judicial economy and fairness dictate that plaintiffs’ claims under each distinct insurance policy issued by defendant be tried separately,” Judge Feuerstein wrote in her sua sponte …
