Gansevoort Hotel Owner Sues Insurer, Con Ed for $1.3 Million in Superstorm Sandy Losses

NEW YORK — The owner of the Gansevoort Park Avenue hotel in New York City has sued its insurer and a utility company, seeking recovery of nearly $1.3 million in business-related losses incurred after the hotel and a restaurant located inside went dark for nearly a week after Superstorm Sandy.
According to the lawsuit, filed Oct. 8 in New York Supreme Court, Great Northern Insurance Co. wrongfully denied their business interruption claim based on a flood exclusion in the policy that TGA II LLCC purchased from Great Northern just one month before the storm.
