Baptist Church Sues Insurer Over Coverage of Superstorm Sandy Damage

NEWARK, N.J. — A New Jersey Baptist congregation has sued Preferred Mutual Insurance Co. and a broker who advised against buying supplemental flood insurance before the church’s building was damaged by Superstorm Sandy.
The Progressive Baptist Church filed the complaint in Union County Superior Court, alleging that Preferred Mutual’s adjuster misrepresented the cause, scope of, and cost to repair the damage caused by Superstorm Sandy and that the insurer has so far underpaid the claim based on the terms of Progressive Baptist’s policy.
