Maiden Specialty Urges Court to Validate Flood Deductible Endorsement in Superstorm Sandy Dispute

NEW YORK — An insurance company has moved for summary judgment on claims by a New York auto dealership that alleged in a complaint earlier this year that a flood deductible was incorrectly applied to a claim for Superstorm Sandy flood damage to more than 350 cars.
Maiden Specialty Insurance Co. filed the motion July 22 in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, maintaining that the $2,500-per-vehicle deductible was clearly articulated in the motors inventory policy issued to plaintiff Giuffre Hyundai.
