CAMDEN, N.J. — An Ocean City, N.J., couple has named the U.S. Department of Homeland Security as a defendant in a federal lawsuit they filed seeking insurance coverage for damage to their home caused by Superstorm Sandy.
Paul and Dorothy McConnell filed the complaint June 28 in U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey, identifying the Homeland Security Department as an agent of the Federal Emergency Management Agency. FEMA administers the National Flood Insurance Program, which provided flood coverage to the McConnells through a policy issued by Harleysville Insurance Co.
