N.Y. Judge Appoints Counsel to Lead Consolidated Superstorm Sandy Class Actions

MINEOLA, N.Y. — The judge presiding over several class action lawsuits filed against Long Island Power Authority for the utility’s allegedly negligent handling of power outages caused by Superstorm Sandy has appointed lead and liaison counsel to manage the litigation.
In a May 30 order that also officially consolidated four cases into a single proceeding, Nassau County Supreme Court Justice Antonio I. Brandveen assigned four firms to serve as co-lead counsel, along with three additional firms serving roles on a proposed plaintiffs’ steering committee.
