Selective Insurance, Adjusters Sued for Fraud and Trespass Over Handling of Superstorm Sandy Flood Claim

NEWARK, N.J. — A New Jersey man has sued Selective Insurance Co. and an independent adjuster accusing them of fraudulently manipulating a report that allegedly obligated the insurer to pay more than $80,000 for Superstorm Sandy-related damage to the plaintiff’s home.
The lawsuit, which also contains an allegation of trespass against the defendants, was filed April 29 in U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey. It seeks more than $4 million in damages for the handling of a flood claim that plaintiff Humphrey Uddoh made under a Standard Flood Insurance Policy issued by Selective.
