N.J. Lawsuit Says FEMA ‘Write Your Own’ Policy Covers Superstorm Sandy Flood Damage




NEWARK, N.J. — A New Jersey man has sued Travelers Insurance Companies for failing to pay for flood damage that his home sustained during Superstorm Sandy.

The lawsuit was filed April 22 in U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey and alleges that Travelers has breached its obligation under a Standard Flood Insurance Policy issued to plaintiff.

According to the lawsuit, Nick Prastos filed a claim with Travelers after his Hoboken, N.J., residence suffered Sandy-related damage that he says was a covered event under the WYO policy. However, Travelers has failed to pay the claim in breach of …
