NEWARK, N.J. — Several insurers have moved to dismiss a class action lawsuit filed in New Jersey federal court over flood insurance payments to homeowners in the wake of Hurricane Irene and Superstorm Sandy.
In a joint motion filed March 22 in U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey, nine insurers argue that the plaintiff who filed the suit lacks standing to bring the claims because neither he nor any other plaintiff was ever insured under a policy issued by the moving defendants.
