Couple Displaced by Superstorm Sandy Sues Insurer to Recover Advance Rent Payments

NEW YORK — A Brooklyn, N.Y., couple has sued their homeowners insurer for failing to make good on a promise to pay relocation and other expenses incurred after Superstorm Sandy caused long-term power outage and sewer backup in their residence.
Harold and Lori Greenberg filed the lawsuit in Kings County Superior Court, alleging that Privilege Underwriters Reciprocal Exchange (PURE) agreed to reimburse them for rental expenses, but that they have so far failed to make advance rent payments in accordance with prior agreement the couple made with the insurer.
