Cabot Oil & Gas Says Complaint’s Attached ‘Lease’ Contradicts Contract Claim

SCRANTON, Pa. — Cabot Oil & Gas says in recent court filings that documents attached to a family partnership’s amended complaint belie the family’s claim that Cabot breached the terms of a valid oil and gas lease by failing to pay promised bonuses and terminating the agreement outside a 60-day termination period.
Cabot (NYSE: COG) also said in an Aug. 29 reply brief that Mickel Drilling Partners misstated the applicable legal standard in its response to Cabot’s dismissal motion, and that the court does not have to interpret the attached documents “in the light most favorable to plaintiffs.”
