Pa. Court Strikes Briefs in Environmental Group's Defamation Suit

HARRISBURG, Pa. - A federal court in Pennsylvania has stricken briefs filed by an environmental group in opposition to motions to dismiss their defamation action against Pennsylvania's Office of Homeland Security, saying the briefs exceed the court's allowable length. Gas Drilling Awareness Coalition v. Powers, et al., No. 1:10-CV-1997 (M.D. Pa.).

Judge William W. Caldwell of the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania issued ordered that the briefs filed by Gas Drilling Awareness Coalition be stricken on Sept. 29, but gave the organization 15 days to file opposition briefs conforming to the local rules.
