NEW YORK - A consortium of environmental groups has sued to block shale gas drilling within the Delaware River Basin until public hearings are held and a complete environmental assessment is made. Delaware Riverkeeper Network, et al. v. U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, et al., No. 11-CV-3780 (E.D. N.Y.).
The lawsuit filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York on Aug. 4 anticipates that regulations currently being developed by the Delaware River Basin Commission will allow for such drilling.
