Alabama Bank Says it Filed $58 Million Claim with BP Over Spill Losses

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - An Alabama bank holding company issued a press release on Nov. 23 to announce it had filed a $58 million claim with the Gulf Coast Claims Facility because of bad loans linked to the Deepwater Horizon explosion and oil spill.
Superior Bancorp did not specify the nature of the losses claimed by subsidiary Superior Bank, but said it had provided the Claims Facility with "extensive documentation.
Superior Bank is the principal subsidiary of Superior Bancorp, a $3.2 billion savings bank holding company headquartered in Birmingham.
