NEW YORK - A 192-page investigative report released by BP on Sept. 8 spreads the blame for the April 20 Deepwater Horizon explosion and months-long oil release across "multiple companies and work teams."
BP said the report was the product of a 50-member team of specialists, led by Mark Bly, BP's Head of Safety and Operations.
Former Chief Executive Tony Hayward commented that the report provided "critical new information," but seemed to focus on the role played by Halliburton in cementing the well.
