HATTIESBURG, MISS. - Defendants denied a stay of damage claims arising from the Deepwater Horizon oil spill have asked a federal judge in Mississippi to dismiss the claims instead. Shemper v. BP, PLC, et al., No. 2:10-cv-138-KS-MTD (S.D. Miss.).
BP, Halliburton and other defendants responded to a July 19 order by the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Mississippi denying their motion for a stay by filing individual motions for dismissal of a charter fishing captain's claims for lost business.
