Survivors, Kin of BP Rig Explosion File Suit in Texas Court

GALVESTON, Texas - Three survivors and the family of a victim of the April 20 explosion aboard the Deepwater Horizon oil rig have filed a lawsuit against the rig's owners and operators in Texas state court, seeking unspecified compensatory and punitive damages. Kritzer, et al. v. Transocean Ltd., et al., No. 62,738 (Texas Cty. Ct., Galveston Cty.).

Joshua Kritzer and additional plaintiffs filed a Second Amended Petition in Galveston County Court on May 4, about a week after the initial complaint was filed against Transocean Ltd. and nine other defendants.
