LAKELAND, Fla. — A Florida appeals court has reversed a decision that would have required Liberty Mutual Fire Insurance Co. to pay for a $3.4 million settlement of product defect allegations brought against the manufacturer of sliding glass doors installed in five Gulf Coast condominiums.
In a Sept. 4 decision, the Second District Florida Court of Appeal held that the lower court incorrectly ruled that a “your product” exclusion contained in a policy sold to MI Window & Doors Inc. was inapplicable to the claim for coverage because the allegedly defective doors were altered upon installation.
