ROCKHILL, S.C. — A class action lawsuit has been filed in South Carolina by homeowners who allege that Atlas Chalet Shingles affixed to their roofs have prematurely cracked and blistered, causing water intrusion and property damage to other building components within their homes.

According to the June 3 complaint filed in U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina, manufacturer Atlas Roofing Corp. has for years been aware of defects in its Chalet shingles, but has refused to acknowledge that anything other than harsh weather conditions and improper installation are to blame for the alleged failure of its product.
