Amerisure Sues to Avoid Paying $3.3 Million Judgment Against Chinese Drywall Installer

MIAMI — Amerisure Insurance Co. has filed a lawsuit in Florida, asserting that it has no obligation to cover a more than $3.3 million judgment entered against a Chinese drywall installer for costs associated with repairing homes that were damaged by the product.
In a declaratory judgment action filed June 13 in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, Amerisure argues that a pollution exclusion in primary and umbrella policies issued to the installer negates its duty to defend or indemnify the company for any Chinese drywall-related claim or award.
