Settlement Ends Washington State Lawsuit Over Corrosive Drywall

SPOKANE, Wash. — Parties have settled a lawsuit brought on behalf of a Washington state physician and his family after they claimed that sulfur gases from drywall installed in their home corroded metal components within the residence and caused family members to suffer a variety of mysterious illnesses.
According to a May 17 order in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Washington, John and Megan Schiefelbein reached a settlement with defendants Certainteed Gypsum Canada Inc. and Staint-Gobain Corp., resulting in a dismissal of the action with prejudice.
