YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — An Ohio judge has given preliminary approval to a class action settlement of claims by homeowners who sought compensation for alleged defect in their steel siding that caused paint on the product to peel prematurely.
U.S. District Judge Benita Y. Pearson of the Northern District of Ohio approved the deal between plaintiffs in four consolidated class actions and siding manufacturers Gentek Building Product Inc. and Associated Materials LLC, which have agreed to enhance their warranty procedures under the terms of the deal.
