Chinese Drywall Supplier, Insurers Seek Approval to Pay Nearly $2 Million in Prior Settlements

NEW ORLEANS — Chinese drywall supplier Interior/Exterior Building Supply and its primary insurers have asked a federal judge to approve payment of nearly $2 million in settlements that were finalized before the company reached a global agreement to resolve its drywall-related liabilities.

The motion was filed Feb. 21 in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana and involves three unpaid settlements stemming from a pilot remediation program instituted by Knauf Plasterboard (Tianjin) Co., a public housing project in Alabama and a home that contained drywall manufactured by the Taishan Gypsum Co.
