Chinese Drywall Judge Sets Final Deadline to Resolve Settlement Contingencies

NEW ORLEANS — Parties in five class action settlements that would resolve a substantial portion of the Chinese drywall litigation have been given a Jan. 4 deadline to iron out all outstanding issues that have held up final approval of agreements.

Judge Eldon E. Fallon, who is presiding over the drywall multidistrict litigation in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana, set the deadline in a Dec. 21 order in which he stated that if the contingencies are not resolved by the deadline, the parties are required to appear before him for a two-day meet and confer session …
