NEW ORLEANS — The owners of two construction firms who filed objections to global Chinese drywall settlements that are awaiting approval by a federal judge have moved for sanctions against class counsel for allegedly harassing the objectors during a recent deposition.
Saul Soto and Ronnie Garcia filed the motion Nov. 16 in the Chinese drywall MDL, accusing opposing counsel of — among other things — threatening them with federal subpoenas and fines in excess of $500,000 if they pursued their objections, which class counsel have deemed “frivolous” in recent court filings.
