MINNEAPOLIS — A federal judge in Minnesota has granted preliminary approval of a nearly $30 million settlement over allegedly faulty plumbing fittings manufactured by Zurn Pex Inc.

Judge Ann D. Montgomery, who for five years has presided over a coordinated MDL docket of claims related to fixtures in the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota, issued an order Oct. 18, conditionally certifying a settlement class and setting a final fairness hearing on the agreement.

According to Judge Montgomery, plaintiffs in the litigation alleged that design defects in Zurn’s yellow brass F1807 plumbing fittings led to corrosion, causing leaks …
