JPML Rejects Bid to Create Docket for Uponor F1960 Plumbing Fittings Cases

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigaiton has denied a request to create an MDL docket for cases resulting from allegedly defective Uponor F1960 brass fittings, calling the centralization of claims against the parties “unworkable.”
In a Sept. 27 order, the JPML said the absence of specific language in the complaints identifying the Uponor F1960 product — as opposed to some other plumbing component — would make it too difficult to determine which of the claims share the common facts necessary to create an MDL docket under Federal rules.
