NORFOLK, Va. - Chinese drywall manufacturer Taishan Gypsum is seeking relief from motions for default filed in several Virginia state court lawsuits, arguing that it has numerous meritorious defenses to the claims and is actively litigating parallel proceedings in the federal MDL. Allen, et al. v. Venture Supply Inc., et al., No. CL10-6976 (Va. Cir. Ct., Norfolk Cty.).
In a response brief filed Aug. 25 in Norfolk City Circuit Court, Taishan asks the court to extend the deadline for responding to the motions for default judgment, at least until the MDL addresses the issue of whether Virginia courts have jurisdiction …
