Fla. Judge: Plaintiffs Can Proceed with Discovery on Banner Insurance, Asset Info

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - A Florida judge has permitted plaintiffs with claims against Banner Supply Co. to seek information about the company's available insurance coverage and other assets so they can decide whether to accept a global settlement the drywall supplier announced in June. In Re: Chinese Drywall Litigation, No. 11-90000 (Fla. Cir. Ct., Broward Cty.).
Sources told HarrisMartin Publishing that Broward County Circuit Court Judge Charles M. Greene granted a motion July 25 to compel discovery of details surrounding Banner's $54.75 million deal, which earlier this month won preliminary approval from the federal drywall MDL judge.
