Insurers Move to Exclude Builder's Corrosion Expert in Va. Drywall Case

NORFOLK, Va. - An insurer named as a defendant in a Chinese drywall coverage action has moved to prevent an expert from offering an opinion in the case as to when sulfur gas emitted from drywall began causing damage to components within several Virginia homes. Dragas Management Corp. v. The Hanover Insurance Co., et al., No. 10-547 (E.D. Va.).
The motion in limine was filed June 3 in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, where Dragas Management Co. has sued to recover a $4.9 million arbitration award entered against drywall supplier Porter-Blaine Corp.
