Insurer Seeks Final Judgment Against Builder, Drywall Co. Following Defaults

MIAMI - Mid-Continent Casualty Co. has moved for final judgment against Northstar Holdings in a Florida drywall coverage case after the homebuilder recently indicated that it would not retain new counsel after the company's attorney withdrew from the case. Mid-Continent Casualty Co. v. Precision Drywall Inc., et al., No. 10-80457 (S.D. Fla.).

Mid-Continent's Jan. 31 Motion for Final Default Judgment came at the urging of U.S. District Judge Patricia A. Seitz, who recently relieved Northstar's counsel of any responsibility in the declaratory judgment action and entered a default against the company.
