Florida Judge Approves Drywall Class Settlement with Banner Supply, ATCO

MIAMI - A judge has approved a settlement between Banner Supply Co., ATCO International Corp. and a class of Florida homeowners who sued the companies over damage allegedly caused by corrosive drywall installed in their residences. Harrell, et al. v. South Kendall Construction Corp., et al., No. 09-08401 CA (02) (Fla. Cir. Ct., Miami-Dade Cty.).
A Dec. 17 order signed by Miami-Dade Circuit Court Judge Joseph P. Farina granted preliminary approval of the plaintiffs' deals with Banner and ATCO in what was believed to be the first Chinese drywall case to be certified as a class action.
