NEW ORLEANS - Parties in the federal MDL officially announced Oct. 14 that they have reached an agreement to enter a pilot remediation program aimed at fixing 300 homes in four states affected by Chinese-manufactured drywall. In Re: Chinese-Manufactured Drywall Products Liability Litigation, MDL No. 2047 (E.D. La.).
The program, which has been in the works for months, is what the parties called a first step in achieving a global settlement to resolve the more than 3,500 drywall-related claims that have been filed by homeowners in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana.
